About

About me - Simon Mansfield

In 2009, my role at The Body Shop became redundant. I had worked there for 20 years in practically every department. I started in the warehouse packing boxes, and by the time I left, I was writing business plans for new products. While sad to leave such a dynamic and values-driven company, this change provided an opportunity. I went back to school, trained as an accountant, and in 2011, Evergreen was born.

I joined the National Health Service (NHS) in 2009. I have seen firsthand the positive effects of business and financial planning and the negative side of failing to plan properly. I left the NHS in September 2024 and work for Evergreen full-time.

I published How to Write a Business Plan (Your Guide to Starting a Business) because I am passionate about providing people with good and affordable information before starting their business.

About Evergreen

I started Evergreen in 2011 and worked for Evergreen at the same time as the NHS for 13 years. To me, business is so much more than simply making a profit. The perfect business idea has a real purpose, blending profit with social values. An advocate of ESG standards, these values are included in all work.

Innovation at its core:

"I believe that we are doing something new, and there are no rules because no one has been there before. We are proving that you can be successful and still keep your sense of soul, you can make a profit and still be a force for social change”
